Poll: 81% Say America Is On Wrong Track

81% is the highest number since the NY Times began asking the question. Here's the most relevant part:

A majority of nearly every demographic and political group — Democrats and Republicans, men and women, residents of cities and rural areas, college graduates and those who finished only high school — say the United States is headed in the wrong direction. Seventy-eight percent of respondents said the country was worse off than five years ago; just 4 percent said it was better off.
Holy cow! Those are some pretty high negatives. Of course none of it has anything to do with the incompetent Bush administration and his long hard slog in Iraq or the slumping economy. It's all part of irrationality and some misplaced hysteria on behalf of the public.

No, it has everything to do with a second term lame duck President... They are almost always unpopular.

And it has everything to do with the hyper anti-Bush campaign that the NYT and the Washington press corps has been playing since the 2000 election.

I've been trying and trying and trying since '03 to locate a NYT piece about Democratic strategy to tag Bush 'a liar,' because at that time some 65% of Americans were polled as believing that honesty was his best personal characteristic. And this piece went on to quote Democrats like Reid and Schumer and Leahy saying, 'we've got to knock down this idea that Bush is honest.'

I can't find it. And you'll say, 'See Kent. You're full of crap.' But I know what I read, Dude. And I also know, Re: the aforementioned hyper anti-Bush campaign, that whenever I Google anything coded as being 'Bush positive' it rarely exists, but when I search for anything 'Bush negative,' multiple hits come up.

Polls are completely worthless when the respondents are ignorant, and I bet that if I walked around Manhattan I'd have a tough time finding ten people that could name ten positive things happening in Iraq. We've talked about this many, many times before Chris. The press does not, will not, report good news about Bush policies.

Oh, and that 'slumping Bush economy...' The press never reported the Bush economy experienced 50+ quarters of growth, the highest in American history.
