Reaching Into a Republican Filled Bag

Robert Novak tries to help Hillary, and in turn hopefully help the Republicans in November, by devoting his column today, the day before the Ohio and Texas primaries, to some attention about Obama and Tony Rezko. The Rezko story, who goes on trial today, is Hillary’s and the GOPs best effort at linking Obama to a scandal.

As Sen. Barack Obama nears the Democratic presidential nomination, a corruption trial of his former fundraiser Antoin "Tony" Rezko on charges of influence peddling begins in Chicago today. Sen. Hillary Clinton's operatives have tried frantically, but not effectively, to interest the media outside Chicago in Obama's possible connection with his home state's latest major scandal.
What Novak omits is that Rezko was not a fundraiser just for Obama. He was an equal opportunity fundraiser for all politicians, including raising millions for George Bush. He was also listed as a subcontractor on an Illinois Republican lobby list. Rezko was a businessman who whored himself out to whichever party was in charge. And up until 2002 in Illinois it was the Republicans.

Again, I'll link to a very good Rezko Primer by Archpundit. Anyone wanting any background on the story should give it a quick look.
