Off to Super Tuesday for the Dems

Obama takes commanding win over Hillary and Edwards seems to be the story of the weekend. Much like last weekend's Republican primary in SC I'm not that impressed with Obama's victory either. He had double digit leads for most of the last three months and given the state's very diverse minorities, a black man winning a Democratic primary in South Carolina isn't that rare. Nonetheless, it was a victory Obama desperately needed and one that will give him incredible momentum heading in to Feb. 5th.

Something extremely worth pointing out is voter turnout on Saturday. The AP is reporting that more than 532,000 people cast ballots in the Democratic primary. That shattered the previous Democratic turnout in 2004 of 280,000. Last Saturday's Republican turnout was roughly 446,000. So far, Democratic turnout has obliterated Republican turnout in every primary and caucus held. Having over 500,000 Democrats show up and vote for three left of center candidates in a very conservative state is a political trend that is definitely not going to get the attention it deserves. Change is in the air.

Myself, I watched sports all weekend and didn't even bother to check who won the primary until tonight.
