The Republican debate last night brought to the world by none other than right wing propagandists Fox News, turned into more of a circle jerk for Ronald Reagan than an actual debate about policy.
Please, there's no one person more responsible for bin Laden and Saddam Hussein than Ronald Reagan. Huckabee and Paul, by far the only real conservatives in the race, held their own very well.
My favorite quote from the debate is from the actor Fred Thompson:
"This is a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party and its future. On the one hand, you have the Reagan revolution, the Reagan coalition of limited government and stronger national security. On the other hand, you have the direction that Gov. Huckabee would take us in. He would be a Christian leader, but he would also bring about liberal economic policies, liberal foreign policies. He believes we have an arrogant foreign policy and the tradition of 'blame America first,' " said Thompson, who has declared South Carolina his "last stand" in the presidential contest.Would someone please tell me what in the world is the Reagan Revolution? Reagan raised taxes more times than any president since Johnson and where in the world is the small government that Reagan supposedly gave us? But thank God Huckabee's Christian. Yes I couldn't imagine what Fred would call him if he wasn't Christian but was for "liberal economic policies, liberal foreign policies." Shortly thereafter Fred had to take a nap.
