So Long John Paul

Posted By MJ

Though I disagree with the last thousand years or so of Catholicism and Inquisitions, and am not Catholic myself, Pope John Paul II was surely a man renowned the world over for his compassion and his conviction and will be sadly missed. The next few days will be a procession dedicated to his life, and rightfully so I might add. I have never known the world without John Paul II. All will be different. You were a good man John Paul.

A good man? I'm of two minds about this. If you don't like the American Neocons, there's not much chance you'have fallen in love with JPII...

You are correct. There is no chance I have fallen in love with the pope. And you are also correct that I don't like neocons.

I admire the pope for his conviction. I disagreed with him about many things, but his conviction was pure. Now I don't believe neocons have conviction. I believe they are hypocritical and only use God and Jesus for personal gains.

Actually, JPII disagreed with the neocons on many, many things. The war in Iraq is one thing. The pope was against any unnatural death- whether it was abortion, war or assisted suicide. The neocons, who oppose abortion, but support the death penalty and overwhelmingly support the war in Iraq, are not consistent with their beliefs.

I won't even try to compare the pope's unrestrained sympathy for the poor to the neocon's blind-eye mantra either.

So I do make a solid distinction between the pope and American neocons.

Thanks for reading. I will surely check out your site.

And I thought you were an old liberal fart...lol

But you are just a young one...;-)

Yeah, I am like you, this is all fascinating for me, although I am not Catholic. I know it's morbid to talk about it like this, but the upcoming Papal election will be one of the most exciting elections in decades!

Anyways, good luck on the new blog!

Oh I feel old ValleyGirl. I just turned 27. I have never been this old in my life. This summer I am hoping to take some time off and have a little fun.
