Is it even possible that John McCain is going to be the Republican nominee? I can't believe we're even talking about McCain this late in the campaign, much less talking about him being the nominee. A couple days before Iowa, McCain was broke, uttering something about war after more war, granting amnesty to illegals, and really looking like a goof ball by bragging about his wide variety of Iraq stances. This is why I'm not a gambling man. I would never have put my money on McCain. How did this even happen?
It's not that I'm totally against McCain. If he wasn't a hundred years old, I think he would be a pretty decent president. (Can this guy even live through a first term?) I think his war talk is only to pander the right wing, who for some reason wants war without end. But McCain certainly isn't a conduit for change for the country. And he certainly isn't what I would consider at certain times to be a rational person. But what might be even more impossible than having McCain as the nominee is having conservatives making peace with him. All the good things I can say about McCain are the very things conservatives don't want in a president.
With all that said, if McCain is to pick Huckabee as his running mate, I think that would be a very difficult ticket for any Dem to beat.

Is This Even Possible?
