Pentagon Finally Releases Memo Authorizing Torture, while shredding the constitution

This is just a sad, sad episode of 21st Century American history. As a historian, I often wonder how future historians will look back on this time. Undoubtedly this memo stating that as Commander in Chief, George W. Bush isn't bound by any laws whatsoever, so long as we are at war will be amongst the archives. As in similar dark episodes in our history, one can only wonder when we will finally get past the belief that we can do no wrong.

This debate over 'torture' would be valid if terrorists afforded our soldiers with Geneva Convention protections.

We know that not to be the case. It would be a very 'dark period in our history' if we didn't do everything in our power to glean information from detainees in Gitmo.

Where is the logic in protecting our enemies? This 'shredding the constitution' talk is irrational.

Looking bad on this period in American history, historians will record that America's leaders protected the country when it needed protection and a group of insane people protested the security measures.
